Wavemakers are an excellent tool to ensure water flow is evenly distributed over the reef. With proper water flow the corals will grow faster, have increased polyp extension and ultimately be healthier.

An excellent variety of flow alternating equipment can be found in this section, and many of it doesn't require additional power! These gear driven systems are a great way to alternate flow in smaller aquariums.

Most people aim for around 20 to 30x system volume turnover per hour - a wavemaker will help spread this evenly.
