Gorgonian
Gorgonians have a branching appearance that is designed to maximize the affective feeding area of the coral. During feeding time white polyps extend from the branches to help trap particulate food.
Pristine waters with very little algal growth will help ensure this coral does not become overgrown. Periodically light brushing the coral will help keep it free of algae.
Lighting needs are irrelevant. Moderate water flow in a direction perpendicular to this coral is ideal. These gorgonians are entirely filter feeding, without planktonic foods these corals will slowly waste away.
Common colours include red and yellow.
