Large Polyped Stony Coral (LPS)
Does best under a low-medium flow area placed in the sand bed to avoid tissue tearing when expanded.
A lower light LPS coral that will do well under PC/VHO Lighting. Capable of producing large amounts of mucous to shed sand and detritus. If it is placed in an area with too much flow expansion and proper feeding will not occur.
Donut corals share many of the same characteristics as modern corals. Both are a very fleshy coral and come in a wide range of colors. Donut corals are the easier of the two corals to keep in a home aquarium.
Donut corals are a good choice for an intermediate aquarist. The common variety are commonly seen in shades of green and brown, while red and solid green varieties are occasionally seen.. They are usually imported as single polyp colonies in the small size range.
