Large Polyped Stony Coral (LPS)
Does best under a medium-high flow brightly lit area. Metal Halide is preferred.
Reknown for its bright red skeleton, once acclimated to captive life this can be a hard coral. It is essential that pest algae not grow on the skeleton as it can easily overtake and kill the coral.
Placement out of the sand bed is preffered for these slower growing corals. Supplemental feeding is not essential for growth but recommended. This is one of the more passive corals not sending out any sweeper tentacles.
Usually available in green polyp as well as white polyp varities.
Latin Name: Tubipora sp.
Size Range: S: 2-3.5", M: 3.5-5", L: 5+"
