Hanna Copper High Range Checker
The Hanna Copper High Range Checker HI702 is a compact handheld colorimeter for measuring copper from 0.00 to 5.00 ppm, giving a direct digital result without relying on colour-chart matching. It is useful for aquarists and water-quality users who need repeatable copper readings in higher copper ranges, including situations where copper-based treatment levels or source water concerns need to be monitored closely.
HI702 High Range Copper Testing
The HI702 bridges the gap between basic colour-comparison test kits and larger laboratory instruments. Its single-parameter design keeps operation simple, while the 0.01 ppm resolution helps make copper tracking easier when precise treatment or water-quality decisions depend on a reliable reading.
Copper High Range Checker Features
- Measures copper from 0.00 to 5.00 ppm.
- Digital colorimeter removes the guesswork of matching sample colour to a printed chart.
- 0.01 ppm resolution helps track changes in copper level more clearly than many basic test kits.
- Uses an adaptation of the EPA bicinchoninate method, where copper reaction produces a purple tint in the sample.
- Compact pocket-sized design is easy to store near testing supplies.
- One-button operation keeps routine testing straightforward.
- Built-in auto shut-off helps preserve battery life.
- Works with Hanna HI702-25 replacement reagents.

Important Copper Testing Notes
Copper can be harmful to many aquatic organisms, especially invertebrates, so copper testing should be matched to the intended application. Use clean cuvettes, avoid fingerprints or bubbles on the glass, follow Hanna’s timing and reagent instructions exactly, and never use copper treatment in systems where it is unsafe for the livestock or aquarium materials present.
Using the Hanna Copper High Range Checker
Fill the cuvette with the required sample, zero the checker, add the HI702 reagent as directed, mix carefully, and insert the prepared cuvette for the digital copper reading. Use fresh reagents and clean glassware for the most consistent results.
